Hey guys new member here. i have a 2013 T800 with a head light issue. lowbeams work on both sides but when you switch to high beam it kills both lights on drivers side. checked power on both is good when to bulbs are out, bulbs in and it kills both. the passenger side is unaffected. i cant find a relay any wear for the head lights. i checked both panels and nothing. no continuity between ground and power wires. any ideas?
Did you try one bulb and then the other? Switch bulbs side to side? Might be a shorted filament, it happens. Or an open ground somewhere and on low you're groudning back through the high beam circuit to the other side. Bad grounds make for funny symptoms.
I second what lantraxco said. Grounds can drive you nuts.
What's your email. I have a pdf of the wire diagram if you want
tried new bulbs and tested the old ones all good. i used my volt meter and checked for shorts to ground on both high and low beam circuits all good. not sure what the resistance should be but its not high. i was told it could be a chassis node. [email protected]
Your truck has a chassis node on it [all 2010 and up have them] it controls all external lighting and wiper motor as well as some temp sensors. It is located along the frame back of the tranny on the drivers side. sound like you have corrosion in the wire as it will show voltage but can't supply the amps to light the bulb. I would look for a cut in the wire for the high beam supply, also the fuse's for the chassis node are in the load center located in that fuse block by the washer fluid bottle. maybe check the chassis node out for damage too as it is known to get hit from road debrie and crack the plastic case. It is hard to test the circuit from the chassis node to light with out a wiring diagram and most people break the cam-lock harness connectors on the node. if you like, pm me your e-mail and I will see if I can download the wiring diagram for you. Not sure how to pm my email is on my last post.
got it, sent already.
Thanks Cam that is awesome!
