hi just looking for some help ,i had a faulty ec sensor on my hitachi ex120-3 , i have a new sensor but is it just fit it and go or is there a process to be followed ? i imagine there is as it regulates the throttle position. thanks
Welcome to HEF Mike ! Start with the engine learn procedure. Key on engine off, if you have a speed dial turn it to fast idle (make sure it was in idle position before keying on), if you have buttons, press the "P" button. Wait 10 seconds, then key off. See if that gets you going.
Have tried this but engine idles very low and when you try shut it off you have to do it manually , wonder would throttle cable be stretched ?
These machines get real complicated to troubleshoot real fast. Diagnostic software is your friend on these units. What was the reason for the EC replacement? Did you check engine rpm's at low idle and fast idle with the linkage disconnected to confirm proper engine speed adjustments without the EC involved? Did you check for proper voltage from the EC motor position sensor when connected and at the proper low idle speed? ( Note: DO NOT plug and unplug the EC motor with the key on. It can ruin your PVC ). Check for codes? Light on the PVC blinking once every second? All fuses good? You need LACHAU to chime in.
This photo of a page showing the learn mode is all I have in the way of the older Hitachi excavators. It is faded and a little hard to read but hopefully it will help.
