Just for fun how many miles do you think you put on a dozer? Last year I ran a 850J for 3 months that had the total control system on it. You could get into the computer and see the miles the machine had on it. In 3 months I put about 1750 miles on it going forward and 800 miles in reverse. That's about an 850 miles a month average. That may seem excessive but keep in mind we track everything we do out after it's finished.
Interesting, makes me cringe to think about undercairage wear just seems like a lot of miles for a tracked rig
Why do you track everything? Around here all the finished pads have little to no grouser marks.
Sometimes we run across a job that wants no grouser marks but not real often. Main reason is it looks better and it helps stop erosion and keeps the grass seed in place. If it comes a decent rain after the seed is in place the grouser marks will fill with seed and you have a nice coverage. Without them most seed will be washed away and all the grass will be in the gullies. Another reason is we work in a lot of rocky areas and we have to walk the rocks down.
