It looks like a Swiss army knife. At least they have plenty of storage room for their empties.

    LOL, you nailed it.

Pete don't you have anything to do.My excuse is winter here.Last year here work nearly all winter no rest. To the skidder dozer ???? What ever you want to call it,will be interesting when they don't get the auger secure and falls back in the grill between the blade and machine.Never say never, right! For a minute in the second or third picture i thought that was a GPS receiver mounted on the rearend. Amazing how nice suff the utility company machines are compared to contractors equipment or at least for near.Have a good one!

Dang, I think I even see a kitchen sink on that machine!:idea It might come in pretty handy for puttin' in fence posts here on my place. Interesting unit, thanks for sharing the photo! JD

Whatdaya mean Constructo? I entertained my buds on HEF for a moment, that's being busy right? :drinkup

Looks like that little skidder can do everything to put in a power line. It can dig post holes for sure and by the look of that boom can likely handle a good sized pole to get it planted. And maybe hook the buckets on for getting up to the lines to work. Later Bob

That's work in my book!:tong That's probably the most interesting skidder/dozer setup I've seen, of course only the power co. can afford to do that. It probably does everything except push dirt. Hmmm, that would be a nice auction find when they decide to retire it....

Funny you mention that CM1995, I was thinking by the condition of the blade it doesn't push a whole lotta dirt!

They sure didn't miss any chances for adding to that skidder. A bit off the theme of the thread, but have you noticed that on skidders there is an extra rail on the edges of the track pads?

  10. #10CM19952013-02-01 20:48

When I went to Peoria on a dealer trip, they had the various undercarriages and their purposes on display. The extra rail is designed to help resist bending pads in a forestry environment or so they said. Which brings up another interesting question. Why did they choose a skidder based tractor instead of a D6N or equivalent?

  11. #11Oxbow2013-02-01 20:51

More room to hang stuff on the back?

  12. #12CM19952013-02-01 21:02

That's what I was thinking. The undercarriage is extended more than a regular dozer and the longer footprint was needed for the crane in order to give it stability.

That's really cool !!! Thanks for the pictures. My friend calls my ATV the Swiss Army bike .... wait 'til he sees what I do to my other toys

  14. #14Dozerboy2013-02-01 21:49

    Thats cool

  15. #15Bob/Ont2013-02-01 22:16

CM they don't need the extra chain of links with the reg flotation pads. The skidders working in the "Bush/Swamp" north of here need the wide pads for flotation. This tractor is working nice dry land. Later Bob

I'm guessing that when you head up the mountain and have to use a stump to turn to go downhill the extra rails are pretty handy!

  17. #17Construct'O2013-02-01 23:32

Missed the extra rail thing, nothing new tho! A far as dozer goes and dozing with the undercarriage postioned in the middle of the machine and took off the attachmnet on the rear that it would be a joke to doze with.Best used just for pushing the logs around.

Sounds like You Been There Done That as fare as side hill skatin goes. Don't suppose you and fellow workers partisipate in the weekend recreation of pileing on to a track machine driving up a snow covered slope turning 90 Deg and skiing down it Eh. Later Bob

It even has a cork screw! "from the people that brought you the most amazing knife ever made, the biggest step forward in swiss army technology ever, the Swiss army dozer. For when you need that little extra power your knife just want designed to provide."

Many of my friends spend entirely too much money (a dollars worth of beer for every 10 dollars in parts) building the ultimate "high mark" sled, if that is what your meaning. I have horses that keep me broke, but I have sledded down a few hills on them!
