How do i know if my case is Phase 1 or Phase 2 - is it just by the serial number? If so, is there a decoder ring for that? And what is the big differences? Thx
Phase 1 would be serial # 17417801 - JJG0019999 Phase 3 Machines started at JJG0020000 and ran until the Super K Series came out. The phase 1 can be identified by the 4 speed shifter coming out of the floor and the phase 3 is a short shifter coming out of the right console. The main difference between the 2 is the transaxle set up. The Phase 1 has a borg-warner shuttle bolted to the converter on the back of the engine, driveshaft and then a 4 speed transaxle. The phase 3 only has the converter on the rear of the engine, driveshaft and a 4 speed transaxle with the shuttle built into the transaxle.
Goose, what is the difference in a phase 3 and a Superk ?
The K phase 3 and the super K are pretty much the same machine. There were a few minor upgrades inside the cab and a few mechanical upgrades but the base machine is the same.
Thanks Goose - Am i to assume then there is no such thing as a phase 2 580k?
how did you do with your thumb what did you figure out ? trevor b
No there wasnt anything as far as a Phase 2. There was the K and then The Ks after JJG0020000 that everyone called a phase 3 mainly to help identify it from the straight K and then the Super K.
im pretty sure that "super" meant that the motor was turbo charged (had more power) other than that i think they are the same...
Nope, The SuperK was after the phase 3, and the SuperK was available as a SuperK, which mine is, and a SuperK Turbo.
i guess your right, just looking at casece.com and found the differences in the parts section for the US version. however the European version (where i am) are only designated as K's but i HAVE seen super K's in Europe and the ones i saw are turbocharged, maybe something lost in translation between the US and Euro 580K's.
could be, I think y'all had 580 Fs, too
