Does each boom section have its own cylinder to extend it ? Looking at a Leibherr LTM 1300 ... https://www.liebherr.com/en/usa/products/mobile-and-crawler-cranes/mobile-cranes/ltm-mobile-cranes/details/ltm130062.html Seems like it would need 6 cylinders to extend the boom. Doesn't look like there would be enough space inside all the booms for 6 cylinders. Or are the cylinders telescopic too ? Thanks for your response.. :drinkup

KNEPPTUNE : Thanks for the link .... Are all cranes similar? Liebherr's voice over makes it sound like it's an exclusive feature to use a single cylinder to extend the sections..
Some five section booms use a combination of cylinders and extension and retraction cables. most 4 section booms are also cylinders and cables. These are on mostly truck cranes/ boom trucks.(under 100 ton). Large all terrains (100 ton and up) Demag, gmk (grove), tadano, liebherr, link belt, all use similar systems, single telescope cylinder and locking pins. Older models are cylinders and cables (pre mid 90's) The main reason is to save boom weight. Less weight in the boom means more capacity.
Crane operator ... Thanks for the insight. Understanding the inner workings makes for a deep appreciation of the design.
