can't imagine somebody working there 27 yrs...pulling a stunt like this. http://www.nbc-2.com/Articles/readarticle.asp?articleid=24586&z=69
same here Thats great!!!
Wow, thats unusual for a county worker to do something like that. In our area their too lazy for that, they just go down to the local diner and have brekkie for 3hrs. I don't know if anyone here works for the county somewhere but I don't say that comment without experience on the matter. I worked for a contractor that did sub out work for the county and 2 years of my life was showing up at 8am, go for brekkie at 9am. Brekkie was done around 10-10:30 work until 11:45, head back to the shop for lunch. Done lunch at 1pm, go back to the job, work until 2 MAYBE 2:30... pack up and go home and still get paid until 5.
Probably get back pay, disability and full pension.:beatsme
That's exactly how the City Water Dept. works. I dug 15 services for them one day. They showed up at 10 to start them, and said they could only do 5 a day. I got on the phone right then, they got paid overtime for working till 5 that day.
Yes i have heard the joke slow death getting run over by a county truck. BUt where I live the less fortunate poorer countys they due a good job. A few have the own blacktop crews and due a good job plus they due a good job plowing the snow up here they are short on help and used up equipment in mainy cases the BIG d
Payloader ? That did not look like a Payloader to me, as the guy on the video says , ? That is the International brand name. LOL Musta been an exciting day there for the locals .
heard of a story where a state driver was caught drunk driving a council truck,he was sent off to rehab and was never prosecuted,as they say here the only way out is with a wooden overcoat or voluntary. same as! Stock
It's just as possible he's been doing the same thing for 20 years, with his boss looking the other way, and this is the first time he had trouble. (And I apologize to all the hardworking and honest government employees, because they are out there. This is the sort of thing that gives them a bad name.)
Thats not true. It was something that helped him. I notice around here we have county guys who do a lot of the same. Sub division streets are not to be plowed on OT. So that usually means 2-3 days after all the main roads are cleaned up. But for some reason the street that the county guys lives on is cleaned, pushed back, and salted about an hour after the storm ends :beatsme
He has to be able to get to work
Red Bank, you are correct, he has to get to work, yet he has been at work since the storm began. This is after the storm has passed.
Did yall notice it was still running in the drink? i bet that engine looks good inside now.
maybe he can use that loader all he want's when he gets it paid for
Thanks digger, and you're right. One bad apple doesn't always spoil the whole bunch. That's all I'll say in this thread.
I thought it was running too....i seen some smoke, but the engine was pretty submerged:beatsme
deere for bait? i like it. call babe winkleman
How else was he supposed to get to his ice fishin' shack? Just another crazy, drunken Norskie. I should know, I have family there in Crookston.:drinkup
It was the Water Department most of the time....lol Yeah I agree with Digger.....there are definately some hard workin county workers out there. But like it was said earlier, its usually the smaller counties. You know the one guy on the 6 man crew replacing a stop sign.
At least he has time to fish now, unless his hut was near that loader
My thoughts exactly... Some people get a lot of heat for something they FINALLY get caught doing. This guy has probably had his hand in the cookie jar for 27 years and mama or papa never slapped it. Not saying it's right..but learned behavior is tough to break and after so many years, whether it's right or wrong, you probably think it's just fine.
My take on county workers... The fish rots from the head down. Give someone a foot...they take a mile. Short story...county workers are created, not born. The ones who need their ass handed to them is the ones who LET guys take 4 weeks to do a job that should be hammered out in 4 hours. All that said..I don't know how a guy, or girl, can look themselves in the mirror knowing they did phuckall all day and got paid for it. I will say this though..most people , when they have their foot put to the flame, will step up...most county workers have never been barefoot or near a flame.
this made the national news i saw it this morning,oh i would hate to be that guy.
I'm more amazed that it ONLY cost the county $9,000 to get that thing outta there. a recovery like that around here could easily go WAY passed the value of the machine.
Ya, could you imagine all the bosses that were sitting in their warm cars "supervising" and getting OT? LOL!!
Every time if goofed ,,was sometimes followed by screwed up to holy crap i gotta find another job ... lots of guys i work with have done worse than i ever have and never lost a days work ..that includes rolling a crane to jamming a towmotor under a overpass at 3 in the morning ... the big thing is to just fess up and admit you screwed up ,,dont cover it up ..or try to cover it up and leave it for the next guy ..(bad JUJU) why guys that screw up royally dont get fired ...our boss quite simply replied ...if i have to fire every guy that screws up ..im gonna have no body working for me "
Some bosses find it a "learning experience" The person learns never to do it again. I worked at one company that had a lowboy hauling a small smooth drum roller, small backhoe, and a small dozer. He left the backhoe running as it was a short haul. There was something that was hitting the extendahoe pedal every time the truck hit a bump. Well it hit enough bumps the extendahoe extended far enough that it was too tall when he went under that last bridge. Tore the hoe off the backhoe, pushed the dozer off the trailer at the same time. This left a backhoe and dozer in the middle of a busy ohio interstate during rush hour. Some learning experience. Only thing that saved the company is the bridge was not properly marked for its height, no fine for the driver, covered by insurance.
heck, ya' gotta break a few eggs to make an omlette.
it's the same here in my town. they don't start plowing till 6 am, they.ve got no chains on any of their equipment. the town doesn't let em use state sand mix. sand and salt, they can't cut pack down to blacktop. so they hire us to haul our stuff in here and bail em out
That guy doesnt deserve a job, has no respect for his job or employers machinery
you dont know the situation ...he may have had unofficial orders ..27 yrs you got some favors kicking around .. i worked for a guy that would not care how many pieces the gear came back in ..as long as the job got done ... i remember one night of boiling up 2 cranes and started on a third to get a job done .... as long as the customer sign's the bill ....thats all that really mattered ..they will call again .. and then you start the process of training these people ...the customer's
a govt employee misusin county equipment thats unheard of lol!
