Having some issues with an ignition switch for a small generator powered by a gas engine. The original switch has 5 connections on it, 4 of which I'm pretty sure what they are based on past experience, but what is the 5th one..? BTW, if I have any of the first 4 wrong please holler ...... #30 - Battery + #50 - connection to starter motor #15 - Ignition circuit #75 - Accessory Circuit #83 - ??
What type of gas engine, small one or two cylinder air cooled? Or something like a 4 cyl with ignition coil and distributor?
83 is "multiple-position switch input" Not sure what that means in the context of an ignition switch. Maybe the switch contains an internal solenoid to stop it being turned to start if the engine is running, or something?
Nige, your DIN numbers are correct. #83 is only ever listed as an "input". It would help if the genset make/model was found or provided, you may be able to find a wiring diagram online. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIN_72552
Handy reference there
Thanks to all who replied. The link to the DIN Standard was exteremely useful.
