Seen that happen before. We were doing a road crossing. We had just finished a cut, laid pipe and were headed onto our next cut when a Caddy ended up 10 feet from where our pipe layer was standing.
We were doing a road widening, and had the road down to 1 lane. Had cut out about 3 feet of asphalt, and subbase to install some water line. A guy got impatient, and tried to go straight. His car ended up sitting on the front and rear bumper with the wheels off the ground. The Police cited him for like 6 different things, and then he tried to sue for damages. The Judge threw out of court for shear stupidity.
The city here left an 8 or 10 foot deep sewer/water repair excavation open for the night on a downtown street. The next morning when we walked by, a nearly new yellow Corvette sat neatly in the bottom, just like someone had carefully placed it there.
I was a project engineer for the local county highway department a number of years ago assigned to follow the RR through the county as they rebuilt a number of grade crossings. I showed up one morning at a closed crossing to find evidence that one of the locals didn't want to take the 2 mile long detour but rather "launched" his vehicle off the pavement in attempt to clear the tracks and make the pavement on the other side. Instead, he bounced his oil pan on one of the rails before he did make it to the pavement on the other side. The evidence at the site was about a 6 inch wide oil streak on the pavement. I thought this should be interesting and followed the streak. It got narrower as I went further down the road. About a half mile away, he stopped for a traffic light, small puddle there. Around the corner he went and the streak kept getting narrower until it disappeared. I was disappointed that I couldn't follow the trail to a dead car .
good stuff right there! one time we were doing a new water service in a new developement area and this car was waiting to go through the street we had blocked off with the hoe and our operator at the time got tired of listening to the guy honk his horn so he started to lift the the front loader on the backhoe and this guy got a little to antzy and gunned it right when he lifted the loader and smashed right into the front bucket it was awesome. police then cited him for dui, and other charges!!! just put a lil dent and scratch on the bucket but that will buff out wish i had pictures!
Road plates and often. ointhead
I agree wormkiller, but it was still funny.
A couple of years back we had a couple of instants of site intrusions and claims as a result, the company won when the video showing the offenders staging the accidents.
