I have a 2002 Cat 304.5 with the Perkins/Cat 3024 engine. The injection pump is leaking from under one of the four flanges held to the pump body each by two penta bolts. I cannot seem to find an exploded view diagram of this pump. Can I remove that flange and replace an o-ring or gasket without removing the injection pump?
U can but it’s no advised.. Each of those flanges set the fuel delivery to each cylinder.. THATS WHY the bolts are the way they are.. There r 2 orings on each flange.. AND they must be replaced with OEM Orings..
Thank you for your response! Are the two o-rings the same, or different, please?
Post the machine Serial Number and I can look up a parts diagram.
The serial number Is WAK01157
See the attachment. Maybe @thepumpguysc can give you some advice regarding the actual replacement of the O-Rings. Note that there are two different O-Ring Part Numbers, qty 1 of one P/N and 2 of the other.
The 2 on the flange r the same size.. If 1 flange is leaking then they’re all going to leak.
Thank you! It is strange, however, that there does not seem to be a diagram of an exploded view of the pump itself, only an assembled one...
There is a 2nd drawing on Page 6 of the attachment shows the piece parts of the pumping units, including the O-Rings. The parts list that includes them is on Page 7.
U NEED TO save yourself a lot of headaches and contact me directly..
You are amazing Nige, thank you!
No worries. Do yourself a big favour and get in contact with the pumpguy. You will not regret it.
