is the john deere 493d based on another excavator?

we bought a john deere 493d for a project and its been difficult to find a lot of info on it including specs, wondering if there is another excavator that its based on that would be easier to find parts and info on. it is a forestry machine and came with a cage and a tree shear, and when i search most of the results call it a feller buncher. any info on this machine or what excavator its based on would be helpful, thanks

Welcome to HEF @diamond dogs . Deere 493D is based on a Deere 490D. The 493D Tech manual is TM1415 . I cant find that manual at the Deere bookstore so eebay may be your friend. The 490D tech manuals would likely cover most things you will get into.

The 493D Operators manual # OM-T131429 (replacement for # OM-T115015) may have some value. Nothing on either # at the Deere Bookstore so once again Eebay is your friend.

Looks like it's also based on a Hitachi EX 120 but with a JD engine.
