Is there much difference between 1998 580sl series 1 and series 2

I'm thinking of purchasing a service manual for my series 1, but I can only seem to find series 2 manuals. Will a series 2 cover most of the series 1 info and then some ? Also. What is the major difference between the 2 machines ? Thanks, TT
