JCB 1700B 4WD – put chains on front for snow?

ekm ยท 2013-09-18 14:27

Just got my hoe moved to VT so snow will be coming soon. I have a steep driveway to plow so I assume I need chains on the front (vs rear). Any clearance issues or other issues with installing chains? Thanks....Ed

Chains on the front do help a lot trying to turn while pushing.

Yes, chains on the front are necessary around here as the snow is very wet and slippery. I throw the big ones on the rear tires if I'm doing any serious hill climbing. Never goes any higher than second gear with the chains on, and usually first with all four chained up. Lots of bungees and frequent checks.
