Hi, I have a couple of plant equipment, mainly JCB TLBs. My knowledge on excavators is not to good. I am planning to buy a 2010 JCB JS200 excavator. I went to look at it, all looks good, motor runs fine etc. The only thing that worries me is the excavator pulls left when you want to travel in a straight line, almost like the motor on the left track is turning slower than the right side. Could someone give me an idea what could be the problem, I just don't wont to buy something and then it cost me a fortune to fix.
Have not been around any JCB trackhoe's but hear is my thoughts. Track tension/track wear, roller/idler drag/final drive drag, pedals /lever stroke for the travel controls (mud/dirt/trash in cab on or under floor matt, control valves for the pedals worn or adjustments needed to make full stroke, centering spring for spool in main control valve broken or loose retaining screw/bolt not allowing full stroke, brake drag on final drive, drive motor leakage, swivel seals leaking internal, main pump pressure/reliefs/flow off. It can be a small thing or a big issue. Adjust tracks, pick up one track with the boom, paint or mark a pad, run the engine full throttle, track in low range, count the rounds per min, do the same on the other side. Place two cones 100' apart and mark the line between, run the machine along the line for the 100' and see how much it really is off while tracking.
Somebody removed a link on one side and not the other Sorry, I couldn't help it. If it doesn't make it 100' just tell us what diameter circle it likes to crawl in
Hi, thanks very much for your thoughts. Much appreciated. There are many things that I can go check now. Half of those did not even cross my mind that you mentioned. Will keep you updated. Regards
Track links Delmer, may have hit the home run on a link being taken out also, count the pads and see if you have the same amount.
I would guess the rotator manifold needs rebuilt. (center swivel)
Number of links in chain doesn't matter. My first guess would be swivel. Have also had a JS200 that the brake assembly in one drive motor was leaking making it not release completely causing the motor not being able to turn as fast as the other one.
Some common faults are dirt under the rubber boots cab floor ,does it do in both directions ,rotary coupling leaking, track motor failing ,track motor brake seals leaking internally will blow hyd oil out of track motor seal eventually can check but be careful pull level plug out of track motor and see what comes out but if seal gone will be under pressure , possible track gearbox breaking up , hydraulic pump weak on one side as there are two pumps which one will do left and one does right they will combine via a straight line tracking spool in the main block ,may be a spool spring coming loose had a few do this usually tested by doing neg control pressure check. How many hours does this have
