I have a 2006 Jcb Js160 with 800 hours. Whenever I want to rev the machine up from idle, no mater how little you turn the dial it will rev up all the way. It has been doing this ever since we bought it , and it hasnt been a problem . But now with the temperature around -30 celcius it could be fatal for the machine if someone accidently revs her up. We purchased and replaced the dial unit , and this did nothing. Any ideas?
if you have a JS AUTO ,check which mode you are in,look to your right hand side,on newer models near all the button ,you will see a symbol for engine revs.has it been pressed/is in the on position.put the machine in AUTO mode, you will see this on the display in front of you.go into diagnostics in display and check for functions or problems.
T S S... Need to know if you have a Tier II or Tier III engine. I'm guessing it's a Tier II. On the Tier II the dial is sends a signal to the ECU (jcb calls it the AMS). The ECU then sends a signal to a solenoid located in the engine compartment. This solenoid has an actuator which pulls and pushes the throttle cable. The JS Auto machines (both Tier II and Tier III) should NOT allow the machine to go to full rev in cold conditions. The various temperature sensors are tied into the AMS and the machine has an auto warm-up mode. When it's cold out and you turn the dial wide open, the machine over the period of at least 5 minutes, will gradually step up the rpms to a safe operating level. Your AMS may need to be re-flashed with new software. Usually a bad solenoid just doesn't work at all. PM me your S/N and I can look into it. We have a fleet of JS160s and JS220s in our rental fleet and haven't experienced the problem you described. Throttle cables on the Tier II machines are finicky and the Tier III have been completely problem free (knocks on wood).
