I spotted this machine driving home the other day. It was sitting on a barge in the Harlem River, in the Marble Hill section of upper Manhattan.
Is that the one with the forks on it? If it is, they're using it to load up old subway cars and place them out in the ocean for artificial reefs. Cool idea (and machine) if you ask me! Thanks again for sharing!
You are correct, that is the shovel with the large forks on it, used for loading the old subway cars. That machine has been there for an extended period of time, although I have never seen it running.
