Hello I just bought a jcb 215s and it was steering fine then the 4 wheel steering light lit up and now the front tire steer to the right but not left and the back wheels steer left but not right I have worked on heavy equipment most of my life but I am wondering what could be going on any help would be appreciated
Hi I would guess that your your steering is out of phase and it wont go back to 2 wheel steer if you check the the little blue switches on the track rods for damage and if you place a spanner or metal object under the switch this should allow a change in mode also check the wires havent been damaged on short loom fom the switch to the chassis harness connector. Usually switches get damaged due to track rods that are worn in the up and down movement allow the the little pin in the middle of the track rod to strike the switch and taking a chunk out of them track rod requires shims if this is the case. Put the switch into 2ws and turn steering to the straight ahead potion check to see if the switch is aligned with the pin on the track rod if not place spanner under neath magnetic switch and it should change mode
When the front tires are straight the back wheels are turned to the left and if you turn the front wheels right the back are turned left but the front tires won't go left the steering wheel just won't do it. I think because the backs are turned left.
You need to re phase the steering so you need to put it in 2ws on switch and flash a spanner under the switch if they are good to allow the steering mode box to be overridden as to speak . Think if you turn the front wheels to one side a bit so as the switch is not making contact and flash the rear switch and see if that works because basically the rear wheels are gone to far so as you cant realign
