Have a 1050c with throttle solenoid that is burned out. Keeps tripping breaker in cab. Pulled the rod up manually and got it to somewhat idle. Does anyone have the diagram on that section of the motor or can explain how the throttle is supposed to work? And any issues by running it manually to get in the shop? Thanks for your help in advance!
Welcome to HEF realjob ! How about a serial number and a picture of the solenoid in question?
They usually burn out because they arent properly adjusted.. Just remember {to read the directions of the new one} that it MUST be adjusted to BOTTOM OUT in the housing..
Thanks for the information. The pull rod on the solenoid goes through a valley pan. Which seems to collect moisture. Do you feel that if it was stuck that this would cause it to burn out? Not 100percent sure of what that rod is hooked to under the valley because it don't appear to hook onto the injection pump.
Got the fuel solenoid on and the place we ordered it from already had it preset, but still had to lengthen the linkage out as when we shut the key off it would still run. Think we figured out why it burned out, the valley had a bunch of crap in it so when it came from warmer climate to colder climate it froze which didn't allow for the pull to fully engage. Now onto the rest of the fixing. Thanks again for all your help as I'm sure i will need some more advise/help!
Most of this type solenoid has a Pull In(High Amp) and Hold In(Low Amp) winding, there will be a detent pin at the end of travel that removes power or ground from the pull in circuit so does not sit and cook the solenoid. TPG hit it square, MUST be adjusted correctly to disconnect that pull in winding when replaced.
Thanks for the reply. Got it adjusted so it was clearly full stroke then had to legenthin rod out so it would shut off. Lol. Took a couple of tries but got in correct now. Thanks again
Good Deal.. glad u got it.. Most folks don't know about THAT.. they just slap it on & wonder why it didn't last but a couple of starts.. & start bad mouthing the company and/or start chasing down {ghosts} wiring "problems".. MOST of the new solenoids u buy like that, DONT HAVE instructions !!! {stupid} I saw 1 THAT DID & the guy didn't read them & I had to go out & adjust it.. PITA.!!
