woody225 ยท 2010-02-20 13:14

hey guys im new to the site. i have a 98' deere 190e excavator and i am having problems getting it to rev properly. it will only rev to 3/4 throttle in the power mode and it does some other crazy stuff. this problem started after i rebuilt the hydralic pump and drives me crazy to have to get out and pull the throttle arm by hand to make it run wide open. any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated thanks.

Welcome to the forum woody225. :usa Don't know your machine myself. You might try sending a private message to -3doc. He knows Hitachi machines, very similar to Deere. Here's a link to his member profile.

What other crazy stuff is it doing? Was the pump a Deere reman. or a rebuild by a hydraulic shop? Are you powering up the stepping motor in P mode?

You may want to check your potentionmeter (spelling?) It should have one if the motor is electronic throttle, my Hitachi EX-60 mini had that problem and thats what it was. I ended up putting a throttle cable in because the price of the potentionmeter was ridiculous.

thanks for the replys and i had the pump rebuilt by a shop. the other crazy stuff it does is it will rev up when the machine is in auto idle when im not even in the machine. sometime when i press the power button it will rev properly for a second then go right back down to 3/4 throttle

I had a Hitachi doing similiar things, drove me nuts for a couple of hours, tried everything I could think of. Finally I went behind the seat and pulled the harness connection apart, cleaned it (had some corrosion), reassembled and the problem went away. If you have ghost functions such as power up on its own then you could have an electrical issue, your unit should have load sense control/monitoring and bad/poor contacts can make these types of systems do some funny things. The Hitachi I mentioned had another tech look at it for 12 hours (2 trips), had the relief valves replaced, had the stepping motor replaced. All from ghost functions related to the bad connections at the cab harness. I am pretty sure your unit has a similiar connection behind the seat.

Yeah ive cleaned all the conections and tested everything the troubleshoot manual says to test so im to te point where i will prolly just put a cable on it. Also on this same machine i have a lot of slack in the swing bearing and was wondering if anybody could give me some info on it? -how big of a deal is it to change out -where is a good place to get the bearing -what is a good price -what is a good manufacurer of the bearing -what else will i have to change other than just the bearing any info on this would be greatly appreciated

The bearing is expensive, a friend of mine just changed one on a crane, but it'd be about the same diameter as your 190, I want to say he paid somewhere around $7,000 for the bearing. You would have to disconnect the swivel, and pull the machine off the track frame. It is a huge amount of work, the way the economy is I would say leave it be unless it is dangerous.

well it is pretty bad its got about 2-3 inches of play in it and its really rough when operating. i dont think its dangerous but i dont want to be on a job and have it split in 2 or start leaking. im scared if i run it to long i will tear up more stuff and it will cost more. plus im sure it will be easier on an excavatoe since it doesnt have swingers and all that stuff

Anyone know the best place to get a tech manual or even some pics of the Hitachi EX60-3 undercarriage? Replacing idler, yoke, etc....
