We have an older (? 1980's) JD 310C that has been working well until recently when the power has steadily diminished to the point it barely moves. My husband has changed the fuel and hydraulic filters and something in the air filter but nothing has helped. The latest idea is perhaps the hydraulic pump is shot. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
check to see if you have good fuel flow out of the fuel tank by removing the hose that goes to the fuel pump,if flow is slow drain tank and remove elbow fitting and the bushing above it should be a screen in there ive seen them plug up an cause all kind of grief, also you can look at parts online for deere with no account or registration. Here, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePageServlet_Alt
Welcome to the forum AdkCK. :usa Power has steadily diminished is kinda vague on our end as we are not there experiencing what the machine is doing. Are you saying the engine putters out, or the engine is running fine but machine operations slow to near nothing?
Yes Willie59 is right. You can try this. While in second gear, if you press the gas pedal to the floor does the tachometer crank up to 2,200 rpm? If not how high does it turn? Also does the exhaust show more than normal black smoke? Second, if the tach shows adequate rpm, does the tractor seam like the transmission is slipping?
Thanks all of you....here are more details.....the change was gradual, over the course of the last 25 hours of use. Now the machine barely can move forward or backward and there is steadily diminishing power in all hydraulics. When any hydraulic is put to the maximum load/extension the engine chokes and dies. He has not checked that screening above the tank. He changed the fuel filter and there was gas in that line (at least that is my understanding). Again, thanks for any ideas.
I had a similar problem with my JCB 212s. Turn out there is a hose from the hydraulic storage tank to the pump, it is very similar to a radiator hose. For whatever reason the hose collapsed on pump suction effectively cutting off my oil flow!!! New hose (hmmmm came with a spring inside to prevent collapse, the old one lacked this feature!) and all is well with the machine! Don't know if you have a hose on your model but definitely worth checking to see if you do. Good luck! Dave
I'll tell my husband about the hose. The issue, though, is that it had been running like a champ for the last couple of years when it got used regularly (at least once a week) and this issue just started around 25 hours ago, initially almost imperceptibly but the last half hour (on the road no less) everything just came to a screeching halt and he almost didn't get it up the driveway to park it. And now he's even worried it doesn't have enough power to roll up onto the trailer if he has to take it somewhere to have someone look at it.
Could be clogged screen in the hydraulic reservoir or a bad charge pump that supplies the main hydraulic pump. A quick check of the relief on the pump may also be in order.
Thanks all....he finally gave up and shipped it off to the backhoe doc today to see if that fellow has more ideas and/or diagnostics.
