Jd 310e no power when in gear.

I have a 99 JD 310e 4 x 4 extendahoe with just under 4,000 hours. And a few days ago it just out of the blue turned into a slug when you put it in gear. It's like it just does not want to go. And you can push the throttle to the floor and it won't get above 1500 RPMs.(makes no difference whether forward or reverse nor what gear). But if you put it in neutral the Hydraulics seem to have normal Power and it will get up to about 2,000 RPMs like normal. I changed the trans filter and didn't really notice any difference. Then I change the fuel filter and it seems like it was back to normal for a few hours and then now it's back to doing the same thing. Anybody have any idea what I might have going on

Do you have the old fuel filter still? Lay a white rag and bang that filter see what comes out or cut it open. When I got my machine that tank was full of rust, slug and debris. Sounds like what mine was doing till I dropped and cleaned out tank, FUEL psi test would help. Here is a link to my fuel psi test as you can see it drops bad

you could also try checking the tank drain for water or debris, you do check that drain every day, right? Also, what temp was it when that happened? and has it been that cold for long?

Yes i did check tank drain, absolutely not daily. It does seem largely related to the cold. 20°F seems to be when it does it.

It could be water freezing and blocking something, it could be debris blocking something and only causing a problem when the fuel is cold and thick. It could be the fuel waxing in the cold temps... It seems likely that it's the fuel, you could confirm with the pressure test, or see if it gets better with winterized fuel, or treat it with a winter antigel product (NOT 911), see if it has normal power after it's ran an hour and warmed up the fuel completely. An anti gel will not disolve the wax, the fuel must get warmed up and then the anti gel will keep it from waxing until it gets to a much colder temp. If you have summer diesel, or old summer diesel, then 20F could give you trouble.

Delmer I have to ask why not (911)

As far as I know, 911 is an emergency pour this in the filter and get your truck started now so you don't have to get towed product, or you don't freeze to death in the middle of a snowstorm product. The stuff it contains is not good for the fuel system.

Right from 911's website. Product Details Directions Part #/Treatment Chart Customer Reviews Available in: 16-Ounce, 32-Ounce, 80-Ounce, 2.5-Gallon, 55-Gallon Drum Diesel 911 is a winter emergency use product. This Winter Rescue Formula reliquefies gelled fuel and de-ices frozen fuel-filters to restore the flow of diesel fuel to an engine. Diesel 911 does not prevent fuel gelling – use Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (in the white bottle) as a preventive measure to keep fuel from gelling. Diesel 911 and Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost are compatible in diesel fuel and may be used at the same time.
