Hello, I was wonder the proper way to check transmission fluid on the 310e. Secondly the old fluid was reddish , they told me to use hy-guard. Wondering what was in the unit before that was red?

Gotta suspect regular ol ATF. But yes, Hygard is the correct oil for that transmission. I also have a 310E. The heart of that machine is the trans and is the most expensive thing on it. Transmission fluid should be checked at operating temperature while running. If you do check it with it cold/off, it should be about 6" above the full mark.
