Last summer we put a new 6090 engine into our 2012 JD350G serial # 1FF350GXTCE808707 because of oil running out of the vent tube. JD field rep said it needed one. 20K expense with us doing the install. The engine was sent with the wrong head, so JD changed the head at no expense for us. Now here we are, less then a year later and we have oil dripping out the vent tube again. Less then 100 hours on the engine. before the oil was pumping out pretty good. This time it is dripping, but enough to cover the pan underneath. Oil is slightly over the fill mark. We will change the oil again. Is there anything like a PCV that could pressurize the the crankcase enough to cause this? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks is advance. Mike
Yep. If it does not spin fast enough or stops spinning, or gets plugged up somewhere. I don't think that engine has a crankcase pressure sensor, so I doubt you have crankcase pressure codes.
What actually spins inside it? I took that apart before replacing the old engine and cleaned it. Rep said on the old engine it was probably blowby causing the oil to pour out that vent hose. could have probably filled a bucket with oil in twenty minutes on the old motor. He never really could confirm that. What would be needed to solve this problem if this is not working properly? A new vent? (Expensive) Or is the repair kit enough to cure this problem? Thanks for the info
2 key words in this sentence that would concern me right off the bat. "Rep" & "probably". That caused a $20K expense that may have not been needed.
There is a rotating conical disc stack inside. We measure the rpm when we test them. Should spin at 6000 rpm or higher at fast idle, full operating temperature. We measure it with a multimeter (set to frequency/"Hz") wired to a crank position sensor placed on top. So testing it is needed to determine if that is in fact an issue.
Ordered a new vent, seeing we used the old one when we put the new motor in. Field rep had no other ideas of the cause on the old engine. said it was blowby. He checked turbos and a few other things. Said there was nothing else that would cause it. We went with his word. Past history now. Maybe he was correct
Did you change the pcv? Did that fix the problem? Have the same excavator doing the same thing wondering if I should start here
Hey did u end up figuring it out have one doing the same thing
