I have a.l690 d 1989.that has developed a swing issue. It frequently will not swing just grind but change direction and it will work but not for long. I have tried pushing on the boom with a loader tractor and it seems solid won't swing. Not sure where to start on this project.
Good day Halerd Suggest you drain some of the swing transmission lube see if there is any evidence of metal. Kind regards Uffex
Stethoscope on swing motor usually works for me .If everything is ok you will here a low hum ,if not may here grinding or clunking noise.
Would believe you have a sun or star gear coming apart on the swing transmission will only get worst. John
Yea only way to really tell pull the swing motor up and start checking out gears. Isn’t a bad job to just check it out.
pull out the swing reducer{gear box} Sounds like something has piled up .There are 2 tapped holes on the flange where it is bolted to the house to use for pusher bolts. I have seen the splines on the pinion get stripped and take out the first carrier .
Found problem, teeth on case of gear box were stripped out.
