Any advice on stabilizing the boom? Will the cylinders hold it so pin and bushings can be replaced. Thanks
Exactly which pin are you referring to? BTW, welcome to the forum pointrow.
The main one down by the cab. thanks
Well, stabilizing the boom is not so much the issue. Once you do get the pin out, you're going to have to remove boom from that position to get to the bushings fitted inside boom pin bosses, this means your going to have to have sufficient equipment to actually lift and handle the boom.
That's kind of what I thought. Almost need another excavator to hold it. thanks
Haven't really dug into one that far before, but there's no doubt that's a good sized project. One that would likely involve removing bucket from arm and removing arm from boom to make things more manageable. Even then, good bit of lifting and rigging to do the job safely and proper.
it can be done with just the rams safely if your careful! Push the rams out to lift the boom with the pin removed with the stick stretched out full! The cab side bushing can be awkward but you should have enough room! you can then set it down on some blocks across the main frame! Have one to do tomorrow on a Hitachi ZX130 so il try and get some pictures! Hope this helps Aiden
Hey that would be great. pointrow
slide the pin back in the end of the boom and rest it ontop of the ears while you replace the bushings.
