The track master pin is tapered. Manual tells me to drive the pin in from the retaining clip side. Two dealers both tell me to drive the pin in towards the clip side. Anyone with experience that can tell me which way, and why, so it makes sense to me? This is on a JD-80 excavator.
If you are putting it in drive towards the clip,if taking out drive away from the retainer. A taper pin should be self-explaining you won't drive the taper thru the link. Bob
Unless someone changed something, that should be a straight pin with each end a different diameter with a snap ring. Remove the snap ring and drive the pin out towards the removed snap ring. That pin can only go in one way.
