Mike, the sol. is run by 2 relays.. a PULL & a HOLD.. sounds like your HOLD is burnt out.. OR you don't have it adjusted correctly.. Didn't it come w/ instructions?? some do> some don't.. The way to adjust it is.. The sol. HAS TO BE bottomed out, up in its housing, inorder for it to hold.. If its not bottomed, it'll either burn up or let go.. The easiest way to do it is> WITH THE SOL. UNHOOKED..move the shut off lever ON THE PUMP to shut off.. & MARK IT on the gov. housing.. Then take the sol plunger & push it all the way in & SEE if its at the same mark.. If not, use the adjuster.. Good luck.

Um these excavators had issues with one of the diodes inside the alternator failing. It will still charge electrically but when you goto shut engine down the dash stays one and engine may even run. To test this short out the yellow wire at the alternator to ground with the key off. if it shuts down then. The alternator diode is bad. a lot of alternator shops just check it for charging and it is good. But diode trio is bad.
