at a very slow swing I'm getting this noise? swing gear box is full, rotary manifold rebuilt 200 hours ago. started doing this 3 days ago and getting worse daily. had brandt come out they had no explanation for it. bearing is only a few thousand hours old greased regularly and rotec was cleaned out and refilled with grease when rotary was done . http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=X3ue57HMqDI
Its kind of hard to make out exactly the noise its making from the video, but it sounds like the swing brake is dragging. I had the the same thing happen on a 270DLC after it was rebuilt a check ball was missing causing it to not release. Can you have your mechanic check that there is swing release pressure at the brake port? Probably going to have to replace the frictions and disks if it is dragging. Was it just the rotary manifold that was resealed?
ya just the rotary. I was kinda thinking the same thing but could that cause a creaking/screeching noise? on a slope the brake doesn't hold to well and the machine will drift. brandt said it will probably need a rebuild but didn't really know what to say.
I would be looking at the swing brake also, especially if it drifts through the brake. The creaking noise could be a result of the motor starting to pull through the brake - a sort of skipping/creaking noise as it starts to slip.
So are you going to let them look for a problem or just wait for an internet diagnosis?
Are you getting any error codes? Might check your pilot pressure, though there's a sensor for that, and it looks like a brake release pressure sensor to boot. As AndrewC said, check the brake release pressure.
ok,ok....i'll be nice. sounds to me like your swing bearing is going south. Had a buncher act the same as your description on the video (loading up). You can grease it all day,but the point contact between the balls and outer race are likely where the noise is coming from. pull the swing motor and gearbox and turn the machine by hand.. you'll see....
