john deere 310a transmission pump

sbarrett ยท 2016-11-27 11:51

now that i,ve removed the engine to replace the crankshaft,i would really like to get at the transmission charge pump to inspect the pump and the associated lines and seals.ever since owning this machine,it has always had symptons of low charge pressure. after changing both filters, and making sure the screen was clean,it still has only about 50 lbs. of pressure on the low side when i had a gauge on it.it really looks like a pain to get at those parts, so i was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful pointers, thanks

Been there done that on my 310 and farm tractors. The pump is inside the center housing and requires removing it to get to the pump. While your in there, go through the reverser clutch also.

i intend to,is there any particular trouble spots in getting the center section out, looks like the entire console has to be removed, also do you think that there is anything outside that section that can cause low charge pressure?

I removed my center section as one whole chunk with steering and dash still in place. As far as low charge pressure, there could be an internal leak from a pressure tube inside the housing.

JD has a gasket kit for the center to rear end which has all of the gaskets and o rings necessary for that removal.

well after a long and hard battle,i finally got the center section removed and got access to my transmission charge pump.all of my tubes and o-rings seem to be okay, but my oil pump housing seems to have a fairly good amount of wear, just running my finger inside the housing wear the gears run,i would geuss probably .005 or .006 thousandths wear, not what i was wanting to see.the small gear also has a bushing inside of it that seems fairly loose on the pin, when i search for the part number of the pump,re13915,it appears a pump from john deere is about $2200.00 as you can imagine i was quite shocked, does anyone have any knowledge of an alternative source,or possibly a source for a good used pump.i am also assuming that this is why i only have about 50 psi of charge pressure instead of 150 like the manual says.maybe i,m wrong and this amount of wear in the housing is acceptable,if anyone has any insight in to my problem, please feel free to respond.thanks for looking,Steve

Can't speak to the 'wear' issue.... but I stopped at a yard in SE Georgia, west of Brunswick.... Blount Parts n Equip in Hoboken (?!) GA. They had a few in that series... A's and B's... ?

All States Ag Parts https://www.tractorpartsasap.com/Transmission-Oil-Pump-p/150776.htm . Just put one in a 2030 farm tractor. Nothing to the pump; low pressure, usually low wear and very simple. Buy on website and shipping is only $13. I buy most of my aftermarket and used parts from them. Quick shipping.

that pump they have listed looks exactly like mine, but the part numbers do not match, maybe i will call them and ask if it will work, that would be great if it did, thanks

If not, look into Reliable Aftermarket Parts. They have a good supply for construction equipment.

they do have a good supply,i buy parts from them when i can,i already checked with them, they do not list the correct pump[ for the 310a.the ag store did not have a listing for my transmission pump, but for some reason the pump for the 300b which they list, must be different even though the picture looks identical. reliable also lists the same pump, for about the same price,i geuss that re13915 must be a different pump than the ag version.the bearing in the front of it,and the shaft that drives it are the same,go figure.
