John Deere 330C LC

DeathShadowX ยท 2024-12-06 12:25

I'm looking at a John Deere 330C LC I was told it runs but doesn't have enough power to move out of its own way. They are saying the motor is extremely weak in it. Only got to look at it for a moment before I had to leave as i was there for something else at the time. But when i looked at it I couldn't find the motor tag. I want to go back and get it started and see for myself but i was wondering if anyone ran into this before and if anyone could tell me what motor it is suppose to have according to the serial number of the machine. #FF330CX08263 and i think last digit is a 1 or a 7? Im looking for any info i can get on machine/motor that i can. Talked to a mechanic at the place and he said they were digging with it and it started to loose power. So they towed it down to the shop and started working on it and im not sure how they managed but it sat and idle 6 days without anyone monitoring it. Assuming everyone went on vacation??? But said it idled for 6 days and when they went to work on it the unit quit and wouldn't roll over anymore. So i have gotten various info stories on the machine lol. Was told it ran but didn't have enough power to move out of its own way and now being told it wont even roll over??? Machine itself looks to be in decent condition so trying to find out what motor its suppose to have aswell to see what a motor would cost? but after idling so many days anything else i should be looking at?

See if you can bar the engine over by hand, 4 revolutions. That will tell you if the engine is capable of turning over with the starter motor. If you can get it running, perform a engine stall test.......that will send you in the right direction of determining problems.

Vintage of machine? Idling for 6 days? Perhaps the DPF is full.

I doubt that it is that early. My guess would be 2002-2006 (from John Deere site). The engine is a 6081HT008. Here's the particulars about this machine.

@DeathShadowX , find 2 screenshots below from the Deere power systems site re: the factory installed engines in the two different 330CLC serial numbers . I checked, and the option code lists for the two engines are identical. . .

So if i want to look for a engine i should be looking for either 6081HT008 or 6081HT002? and is that a public site you used to get that info or you gotta be part of the network for it?

Not sure about the 6081HT008. The 2 machine serial numbers from your original post are both engine model 6081HT002 . The Deere PowerAssist engine app should produce the same information.

If and when you get started engine shopping the 6081HT002 Deere Reman engine is part # SE501697 . Deere Reman Complete block assembly (long block ) is part # SE501040 .

Maybe it just ran out of fuel or a fuel filter/fuel fitting is plugged? Clean off that serial plate to get the last digit. It looks like a 1 to me (which makes it an HT002). Going on that being a 1, that engine has an HPCR fuel system. It also has a diagnostic display unit in one of the compartments behind the cab. Check your messages on how to access codes. Check that along with the serial number and report back. Maybe with luck, it is not a major engine issue.
