is there a way to read the check engine light fault codes on a 450j without a scanner?

is this done om the tcu? my tcu doesnt show any codes but my dashis flashing
Serial number? Remove the cover over the TCU. Using the buttons on the TCU, press the menu button until CODES appears. Press select. Post what you see. Then press the next button to scroll through additional codes, if there are any, and post them as well.
