Do you have a aux. pedal for a hammer or thumb maybe it is engaged

no i drove the machine up to my shop that morning shut it off and 2hrs later tried to start it and now it cranks over very hard and wont start untill i completely remove the hydraulic pump from the back of the engine like the pump is turning hard nobody can tell me whats wrong i dont know if the main relief could be stuck and causing this pump to not release pressure or maybe the pump locked up the pump only has about 800 hrs on it thanks rick

When the hydraulic pump is removed , try and turn the input shaft with some channel lock pliers. That should determine if the pump is in fact locked up or not. If the pump proves ok, reinstall the pump and install 3000 psi pressure gauges at the (2) plugs #19 (shown in the screenshot) The hydraulic system is open centre so with all the controls in neutral , I don’t think there would be anymore than 300-400 psi at the 2 plugs when cranking the engine over… https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/70062/referrer/navigation/pgId/166620 . .

problem solved we found out when we took the boom valve apart because the boom was leaking down and some how we installed the valve spool in the wrong direction which caused a blockage in the system thanks to diesel dave in canada for calling me and talking to me and giving advice and helping me figure this out i appreciate it very much

What type of hydraulic oil for the JD 690c?

  10. #10Diesel Dave2023-12-20 23:43

Hydraulic factory fill would have been John Deere Hygard

Yes sir, thank you. I guess I should have asked if there is an equivalent? JD is very proud of their product and I'm sure it is the best, but I'm inquiring on a less expensive brand or other oil viscosity that would work? I'm in Florida and it never freezes and is almost always in the 80s and 90 degree Fahrenheit. It is an old machine with little leaks here and there so I'm not trying to have it leak $1 a drip.

Straight sae 30 engine oil would be good
