who knows much about these old girls ..ive bought one dirt cheap here in Australia complete with 371GM engine hydrolic blade(can this be original on something so old?)..will have to spend some $ on new steering clutches though.. this old D4 sized dozer will just be a spare for around the farm for light clearing on steep country cheers ken
AC did use Detroit power into the 50's I believe when GM and Euclid/Terex went into business and powered their own machines, later AC units were Buda.
finally got the old girl home a coupl of days ago..she was a little heavier than we expected(pushing 9 ton with blade/winch etc)unfortunatly on the day the largest truck i could hire could only hold 5 ton ..we ended up bending the tray & popping some spot welds...needless to say we spent a few hours repairing the hire truck B4 we took it back the next morning..i never realised a sledgehammer/welder & access to a forklift could come in so handy! ...... anyway we gave the old dozer a pressure clean & as per usual it seems a lot worse than we expected..over the next few weeks will be fitting new seals to the hydrolic rams, new bolts to tracks, new filters, exhaust & a lot of welding as there are quite a few cracks to be found ..not to mention one steering clutch is kaput cheers ken
