some more First pic is a jd 330clc couple 30 ton wagons. Next is a pic of the pad we were building for a casino lots of mud. Third are the sewage ponds we had to build for the casino as well, 23%-26% moisture in blue clay to seal it, just like plastercine.Fourth pic is a komatsu 375 ripping frost in a borrow pit, we had 2 meters of frost because the energy outfit got us to strip it in november and the trucks just pounded in the frost.Last pic is the 8 getting corked aka "ice lugs/cleats".You can also see the 375 is corked to.

Thanks for the welcome boys. Rained out here for the third day straight, got boared of staring at the wall and figured i'd join the fun and post some pics.

More iron first pic is just a shot of borrow we had been digging in for a few years, usually have about 40 wagons hauling out of there, sounds like alot but its around a 20 kilometer haul, just no other usable clay. Next is the 750, it had about 14000 hours on it here about two and a half years ago.Third is the 375 pushing frost. We don't waste the frost just put it in deeper fills and on the slopes or just mix it up a little. Fourth is a 450 loading.Last is our hitachi 800 in the spring, same job just a different pit.

More assorted jobs First pic is two cranes installing a pipe rack on a plantsite. Second is a few hoes taking out the common sub cut, to be later be back-filled with clay. Third pic is our gravel stockpile. Fourth pic is another shot of the 800 on it's not so pretty side, on the rad you can see a hole in the luvers, that happened in 2005, this pic is from 2006, long story short it was on a woody topsoil pile loading and caught a log in the rad, not a fin bent on the rad though.

Winter roads First pic is the tractor i ran for about a three weeks, has the same role as a grader, maintains the roads after the cats have got the road cleared and some frost pounded in it. The tractor is usually chained up but they couldn't be found. Everything pulls tires behind to help pound the frost in, all the cats, graders and tractors. This ones pulling a tire from a 793 haul truck.Third pic is a creek crossing gone bad and we had to get a portable bridge. The ice broke when we pushed the snow in the creek washes out the bottom of your ice bridge, this dosen't happen instantly usually takes a day or so and you swear you thought you had it built up more. Fourth pic is a broken axle on the tractor and the end of my tractor days.A month later the other side broke. Last pic, after the tractor went down i ended flooding creek crossings with the water pump, I love doing this seriously. Usually i hold the hose but i saw a wolf and made a beeline for the pickup.Gone by the time i got the camera.

More ice roads First pic is a 426c backhoe I ran for a while digging cellars for corehole rigs, loading out the used mud and many other things. Pic 2 is getting ready to dig out a cellar for a muskeg lease, nothing really to dig out peel the frost off and it was just black dirty water underneath. Pic 3 a jd 450 blading a lease access road.Pic 4 my old pickup in front of the 330 i was using for digging remote sumps and reclaiming leases.

Nice Pics what were you guys doing up in there??

  16. #16HoJay2008-09-28 10:50

Sorry for the late reply pullpan, the internet went out in camp. The pics with the 1800 we were just doing muskeg removal for a new SAGD plant north of fort mac and stripping a gravel pit and building access roads. The last pics were building ice roads and leases for core hole rigs.

Plant waste land fill-2005 This is a landfill we did a few years back for plant waste, mainly for some stuff called lime sludge- horrible smelling stuff. Not too many pics of the actual excavation also these are not my pictures they are from our surveyor who at the end of the job burned us all the job pics. First pic is the big cell with the 200 by the blue tarps installing a man hole and a deere 450 loading out the last cut on the right side. Second is a 450 digging out the manhole area with the boss watching. Third pic laying pipe for the man hole. Fourth pic still a mess, starting to backfill manhole. Last pic is me in the coveralls laying pipe, playing in the mud. This was also the job where I first got on hoe and dozer, not full time but enough to make me happy and off the labour crew.

    Welcome HoJay..and great pics!!!!!!!

  20. #20JimBruce422008-12-07 21:36

Great pics there, but I gotta be honest, in these latest ones, it does not look like a whole lot of cut for your 1800 or is that just a trick of the camera? Hope your ADT operator was ok after tha spill too...

  21. #21HoJay2008-12-10 20:30

Hey jim, the pic from inside the cab was just pile of snow and frost lumps I scooped up when I was walking to another part of the job, just muckin about. The truck driver was a little worse for wear but nothing to serious, had his seatbelt on but runoff the job.

  22. #22JimBruce422008-12-10 21:01

Makes sense... thanks for the info:drinkup Keep the photos coming:notworthy

  23. #23Deereman2008-12-14 01:38

HoJay nice little 450. Has the 750 hoe been a good one?

  24. #24HoJay2008-12-17 21:19

Hey Deereman, I havent seen the 750 for a couple years now but it is still working around the clock. When I was running it had around 15000 hours and I enjoyed running it, has a little smaller bucket than the 800 but has faster cycle times.I thought it was a pretty good hoe.

  25. #25HoJay2008-12-17 21:46

Rig move from one winter lease to another.
