guys, wondering if anyone has first hand experience to add on an sk140. Currently looking at purchasing a new excavator in this class and i have don't have much experience with kobelco. I played with one at the dealer and thought it looked and felt pretty nice but its hard to say when you can't really get digging in more probable situations. I looked around but didnt find much about this model in any thread.
is it a -8 model? if so becareful of there hydro pumps they tend to fail in the newer kobelcos after about 4000's i have sold at least 15 pumps to australia for the SK200-8 ,SK250-8 SK330-8 it seems to be a -8 problem with thtem and also the solindoid valves also tend to fail on them. well that is about all the insite i can give sorry its not much
we have a lot of them out and everyone seem to like them with very few problems. As far as problems with th -8 model have never heard that and we have several hundred of those out also.
I have seen the same. The are using a K3V112 pump on these models and appear to be asking too much of the pump. I wouldn't be surprised to the them change to a K5V140DP next. For the SK140 it uses a K3V63 pump and seems to be holding up well. It also has the new Nabtesco final drives that are planetary style instead of RV style. These are holding up excellent. I can't say anything negative about the SK140 series.
Yeah the K3V112DT it seems most are using and they are under rated. also noted that some of the SK330-8 for some reason have the K3V140DT and others have been fitted with the K5V140DP not sure why this is but i must say kobelco i have found are one of the hardest machines for parts as they seem to change there configurations heaps and with little or no way to track it.
Have you seen the 3 different regulator options on the SK330? There are positive control and negative control too. It's been a pain to decipher which fits on which machine. There are weird serial number breaks too. It's like they were using whatever they could get their hands on when building the machine. Very frustrating
Well i have seen some set ups having the Green Blue and Black and then i have seen some with a Yellow thrown in for the hell of it just to really confuses the situation. I have basicly given up on there serial numbers and i am not sure if you have the same issues that i do but we deal with kobelcos put together in China , Japan , Vietnam and Thailand and it seems that they have no cross referance at all. so that is why now we are getting away from kobleco it is just a pain to deal with them. also they have moved sooo many of there genuine parts factorys to china and the qullity of them has just gone down the drain if you ask me it is fairly sad when the chinese are telling you dont buy the orginal kobelco parts even when they are cheaper then the after market gear for the under carriage.
Thanks for all the input guys, really helpful when your not familiar with a manufacturer, or model. I have since tried one and thought it felt pretty good to run anyway. Now we will have to ask some of these questions.
