Can anyone tell me what the two small wires on back of the alternator are for and what the voltage should be? I'm getting fault code 15 which is a faulty charging system. I checked the output to batteries at the alternator and am getting 27.2. Thanks for any help
No, I can't. But if you tell me what the voltages are, I can take a better guess. If there are only two it sounds like a standard alternator. If one of the wires is AC then it's the tachometer "drive" so check for AC if there's no voltage on DC. 27.2 is marginal, is that at low idle? what's the voltage at full speed? and with the lights and fan on? Battery voltage before it's started? Have you checked the obvious like loose belt, loose connections?
