komatsu 138lcus pattern change valve

just started working for a company that runs deere controls. need to know if there is a easy way to change it to cat controls. the machine is a 08. i read a little something about a control pattern change valve however i do not know where on the machine to start looking and it would save me alot of time just flipping a switch rather than trying to learn a new control pattern. any info about this machine would be helpful thanks!!!

I don't know where it is on a PC 138 but check the access door under the cab, that is where the PC 78 pattern changer valve is located. The access door I am talking about is right underneath the cab door, in the carbody. I feel your pain, I run Deere/backhoe controls and it's much easier and safer to run the pattern you are comfortable with.

I don't know where it would be located on the PC138 myself. If it's not in that access compartment below cab door, raise your floor mat, see if the floor plate is removable, sometimes it's under a floor plate if it has one.

Something tells me it may be under floor mat, you will just see a small red handle, mgive it a pull, or push.. Or it could be next to the control valve..

sometimes theres a compartment behind the cab or wherever the valve body is and you'll see a red lever with a screw to hold it in place, or it'll be a square with like a half moon shaped metal piece on the bottom like for turning on and off hydraulics to a hammer. either one of those will change the pattern and usually has a picture near it to explain.

Check in the compartment under the stairs on the right side.

One more quick question for everyone. Is there a special tool needed to take the hydraulic lines out of the control box to re arrange them to finally get to run standard controls? Thanks for everyone's help!

Do you have the quick couplers or the JIS fittings? For the quick couplers you have to push the fitting in real hard and turn the end piece on the hose counterclockwise. That is supposed to expand a wire lock ring on the inside of the fitting and let you pull the hose loose. Usually when I had to mess with those I would pray a little, swear a lot, brake off two or three finger nails (if I had any left from the last time) and jam my hand into some sharp piece of metal which usually entailed copious amounts of blood and the prior mentioned swearing a lot. Be sure you mark the hoses before you start switching any of them. It's a real pain to try to figure them out once you have them mixed and lost. Good Luck!

Thanks for every ones help just got them switched a few weeks ago. its a total pain like john c said but once you get the method down its not to bad. you just have to try and turn the end piece and pull in a fast popping motion. still gonna scrape some knuckles tho but worth the time and frustration of learning a new pattern. Thanks again!!!!
