Komatsu D 155.

JTL ยท 2008-12-05 14:10

Have any of you guy ran one of these? I spent 4 days on this machine, building fill behind four 605 Komatsu haul trucks. It was a nice, user friendly machine, exept for the 'W' blade. It would take about 6 passes to clean up a pile cause the blade will not carry any material. This style works great slot dozing, but aint worth spit as a fill cat blade.

Ran one quite a few years ago, it was an old one with OROPS and had a 2 barrel ripper on it. I remember it had a ton of power but was very slow. That was one of the first dozers I had ever ran. I was probably 15 or 16 at the time, pushing dirt at the landfill.

Any more details about that blade? Have newer seen one like that before.. And please post som more pics, u can load up five for each post... We got 65's and a 85 in my unit. I like them, but blade visibility could have been bether on the 85. Often have to lean forward to see the edge. Good cabins and a strong machine with enough oommph. We have problems with the rock/mud deflectors by the sprockets. Upper ones get bent out real easy, and then the lower ones comes out from the sprocket. Nice cleaning of the undercarriage though.... Oh,and its enough space for the fire ext behind the seat if u get a bracket..

Thats what Komatsu call their Sigma blade the new Dash 6 155 have them, supossed to be more productive by lifting and rolling the material, probably works in slot dozing but would tend to roll it to the sides when cleaning up.

I would have said it was a push attachment for scrapers, even if not, it doesn't look like much of a blade.

ya i ran the old type ,it had steering clutches(some of you may have heard of those )and a decompression to get it started filled the whole pit full of smoke when you fired it in the winter.

i ran a D150A, thats the old version off them and a direct drive to boot, that was the first machine i put any decent hrs on pushing gravel in a pit stockpiling it for later use on the rds on the property (used to load a C500 kenworth tipper with a case W20B), man that was an experience running that old D150A. It had a home made cab with a box on the roof they called an air cond (never worked and none of the windows opened). The decompression lever was so tight u had to use ur boot to slide it over as u got in from the tracks and if it stalled u had to get out and slide it over them get back in to start her again. I have some pics of it somewhere with a set of offset discs we used to plough brigalow scrub in to prepare for pasture or wheat. I have some old pics here i must scan and upload if ur interested in it

How do you get a job operating at 15 years old? At a landfill, no less........

That dozer looks like it would do more harm than good, imagine tring to move rocks or stumps with the center of the dozer out further than the end bits. Around the side they would go, what ever you might gain in the slot you loose in versatility. I'll take a semi U anyday

This was back probably 17- 18 years ago at a family run business, I started out going to work with Grandpa where he showed us the ropes pretty early- pumping leachate, driving trucks, running dozers, loaders. I spent many a day picking up paper, spreading hay or just helping around the shop as needed. Times have changed quite a lot in the short time its takin me to get old.

    Does it finish grade okay?

  12. #12JTL2008-12-11 05:13

Yes and no. The machine was real easy to hold grade with, but it took forever to clean anything up. You were always leaving a snail trail on either side of the machine. No carry ability to the blade. Jason
