here is a pic of a Komatsu D3751A and the blade that was specially built for pushing wood chips. What you think?
Flipped her around.....
You'd have to think that machine is going to have an easy life, even with the oversized blade. What's the wood chips for? My wife would love to have a batch of those for bedding the horse stalls though!!
Wood chips are generally used to manufacture paper. Re machine life, I know of a D8k on a similar job many years ago, where the walking gear lasted as long as the engine before a scheduled rebuild. Now THAT makes me jealous!!...........Ray
the komatsu D275A at work as a blade just like that for coal. its a little big for the machine, can't push very much up hill, just on level ground can it fill the blade and push it, it limits you vision alot to
Hi Jimmyjack. There's heaps of big Cats & Komatsus in Australia with specialised coal blades. They handle stockpiles between rail and ship for export. That being said, burning coal for power should be cleaned up or replaced by renewable energy. Did you know that enough Solar energy lands on an area aprox the size of Florida, each day, more than sufficient for total energy usage on the earth for a year! All we have to do is harvest and store it. People are investigating this as I write, and I am one of them...........Ray. [email protected]

Thanks guys for the replies and for turning the pic the right way. This is a pic of our chip pile used to make paper. The Komatsu has been with us for about 6-7 years. The engine has just been replaced and running like it was when it was new. Visibility is very limited with the blade as the pile gets really high at times. The dozer has enough power to roll the chips over the blade and never miss a beat. We also have a Cat D-9 on the operation as well. We just puchased a Kom WA600 for the bark pile you talk about a monster (more on it later). Im happy to be apart of this forum. Thanks
