Hello, I recently bought a d37px-21 dozer that needs repair to the monitor panel. Does anyone have a service they recommend? The panel lights up upon key on, and shows the engine hours in the bottom left display. After that the bottom left display blacks out. The gauges never turn on.
Is there clean power and ground going up to that panel. Just wondering if there is a deficiency in power before repairing the panel. Worth checking unless you have already done so. Simon C
Yeah Simon is right, best check power and grounds for that monitor with a test light, this seems more like a supply problem. Seems similar on alot of Komatsu machines doing exactly the same thing
I sent it off to ERD for them to repair. Hopefully it doesn’t end up being something the harness side. Not sure how it would be… there’s clearly power getting to the monitor panel since some of it lights up.
If the panels load was too much for the strength of connection of power and ground feeding it , what it was doing would be correct. Hope you tested the in and out power before sending it out. You would of been looking for loss of potential at positive volts in, and loss on the ground side out. The harness could easily be tested with power if you knew which pins were what, from a schematic. If unsure could explain. Hope it was the monitor at this point. Simon C
ERD did confirm it has some defective components., but unfortunately they can't fix it. Something about not being able to source the parts. I can't attach a video to my posts, but the issues with it were pretty indicative it was not a supply voltage problem. Wonder if there's a world in which the circuit diagram would be available for this thing. It's such a scam how these monitor panels become such an expensive repair on aging equipment.
Maybe Member " coalrulz " could help you to get schematic. I noticed he has sent other Komatsu PDF's to people. Maybe send a private message to him and maybe he can help. Simon C
They are expensive because they are part of a diagnostic package. The cost is part of operating and maintaining the machine.
Indeed, repairs are of course necessary on machinery. It's a shame that they designed this monitor panel with a bespoke LCD circuit board as opposed to off the self LCD panels. After opening it up myself, I found the bottom left corner LCD is an off-the-shelf Optrex DMC-16204, available even today for $20 from ebay. But the LCD's for the gauges and speedo are of a proprietary design, and since Komatsu doesn't stock them anymore, the entire $3000 (probably more if Komatsu had any in stock) panel is essentially junk. It's very disappointing when companies are this short-sighted.
