Komatsu D41E-6 Dozer

Highway 6 Repair · 2024-06-05 10:59

I am looking for a little knowledge on this dozer from the komatsu guys in here. The problem with this dozer is that after a few minutes of operating it will quit tracking or pulling i guess you could say both tracks. If you lift the dozer with the blade and ripper it will turn the tracks but even when you first start to operate it does not really have the hydraulic power it should in the drive system the blade and rippers work as normal. the pump has been gone through before and has been pulled off and looked at for this issue with no wear showing really at all. I only have a parts book so i do not have access to what kind of pressures i should see. It seem like its bypassing pressure somewhere to me. the filters have been changed, suction screens checked and had no clutch or brake material in them. i would like to look into the priority valve but dont have any testing procedures or pressures. if anyone has seen this issue or has any ideas id appreciate it. the dozer is a 97 year model with less than 5k hours serial number looks like B20806. thanks

Anybody got any ideas. This is the first time I have seen nobody offer any ideas lol. I just figured someone has come across a similar problem with these. Thanks

I'll chime in here but am ignorante on how the trans works. I take it that is a hydrostat drive system and the pump you've had repaired operates that. So continuing that assumption it will have a hydraulic motor on the transmission. Has this motor been checked for internal leakage?

Well, It helps to know what type of TXM is there, as they can be fitted with diff types. i´m not sure if KOMATSU used the Hydrostatic style trans in those... If your unit is of this style, u´ll need help for sure, as this systems are really hard to get to know them from heart. Despite i´m guessing, one can figure out the transmission type, and if its a common planetary powershift style, that will not be hard to fix. Post the serial nr and we´ll try to help.

i´ve been digging and found interesting info.... not sure if all D41-6 have same TXM but i talk to a fella is not hydro system, but its not a simple system either... Aparently its 2 clutch packs for shutle FWD and RWD, stoping/starting motion is done through a modulation valve, system does not have TC, much like a JD powerquad, without a main clutch. The rest is like any powershift. Braking and turning system he did not knew specifics.
