hello, i own a 2007 komatsu pc160-7 and almost every morning when i start the machine up it takes atleast 15-30 mins befor it swings. i just purchased the machine used and the monitor's lcd is damaged so i cant read any codes. does anybody know what might cause this problem? when i it rains over night it takes much longer before it could swing. everything else works fine at start up. when i turn the lever i could hear the hydraulic coming on. when the automatic rev is activated and the swing lever is moved the engine revs up so the controller functions properly. i'm guessing that it's a swing lock issue. help please
If moisture effects it I would check electrical connections on the swing brake system.
There should be a toggle switch somewhere on the right side console that will bypass the automatic function of the swing brake. It will hold it released all the time. The book calls it a swing prolix switch. If the swing is still stuck you have a wiring or mechanical problem.
ok i'll do that once i locate the swing lock solenoid
i tried toggling that "swing lock" switch a couple of times but it was no help
That would indicate a problem with the solenoid or a wiring problem. The toggle switch closes a circuit keeping the swing brake solenoid in the released position. You can check the solenoid with an ohm meter. As I recall a good solenoid should have something like 4 to 7 ohms of resistance.
