Good morning folks. Looking for some help regarding my PC200 Komatsu excavator. I was running it yesterday and it was operating fine, broke for lunch and when I returned to the machine and turned the key nothing happened. No clicks no nothing. Tested battery and putting out over 24, tested wires and same. When turned to on position nothing happens, when key returned to off position oil light blinks and won't shut off. I checked oil but doubt it's accuracy as i'm parked on a hill. Oil on the dipstick but under the low mark. Anyone have any advice. My brother in law thought maybe the starter as everything is reading 24 with key on but seems odd considering no starting problems all day, fired right up. It's an older machine if that matters.
Just guessing, but check all the wiring into the starter. Maybe while it was running a wire broke or worked loose on the starter, and it’s now showing up since you’re trying to start it
Check all the fuses on the bar on the right side console in the cab. Next check the battery disconnect that is under the boom foot mounted on the frame on the battery side of the machine. There are two small wires and two large wires, one from the battery and the other going back to the starter. With the key off, one of the small wires should be hot. The hot wire goes through a fuse then to the key switch and back to the other terminal on the battery disconnect. Some times you can tap the top of the cap on the disconnect and the switch will close with a big click. It that is the case you can remove and tear the disconnect switch apart and clean it up. Good Luck!
