Komatsu PC210 Question

RDJ1966 ยท 2012-02-12 15:55

Is there something odd about a PC210 LC-7 ? Its seems there are very few listed and I'm wondering if this is a machine to stay away from for some reason. TIA

Theres nothing wrong with this excavator but if I may make a comment about Komatsu in general which only really reflects on my area as I don't know how they operate everywhere else is. Komatsu is Komatsu's worse enemy meaning they bring in one maybe 2 machines so they don't sell many and don't keep stock in there yard so for someone like myself goes and buys one it breaks which they all do you can't take it back to dealer and leave with a demo or rental as they have none you go somewhere else which makes you wonder why you bought a komatsu in the first place. So my feelings are theirs lots of companys like mine that won't buy a product like this hence the lower number of used units. Just my opinion.

210-7 is almost bulletproof, not that smooth to do fine grading with, the tracks are soft ,set of origional chains would be burned off by 3500 hours, i dont like the 3 speed tracking but tats in all komatsu machines i have /had. here in ireland all the -6 and -7 machines are being bought up by exporters to asia mainly china, and a certain amount to africa, but for some reason the africans dont seem to have the buying power of the asains. in general komatsu would rank like this from me personal experience 1 hitachi 2kobelco 3doosan daewoo 4sumitomo 5 komatsu 6hyundai 7 cat this is all related to cost dealer back up ,parts availability, and my own opinion from buying machines from salesmen and getting stung ,like when the cat dealer in ireland sold me a 2004 cat 320cl, that turned out to be a 2001 320cl import from holland, and then they went bust and left me high and dry, just one example, another fault with komatsu in general is the bushings in the arm are very soft and play is a common problem.

It used to be that a 210 unit was only in the United States as a gray market machine. That may have changed, but I doubt it. If they have held to history the units with a 10 in the model number were built for demolition in Asia. The had a little heavier counterweight, extra guarding on the carbody and under the house and usually had a compactor/breaker auxiliary circuit already plumbed. From my experience with the gray market machines, used ones usually get resold because there was a problem that no one was able to fix. Make sure you get the parts book with the machine. The original parts books were usually with the machines when they came into this country but they were written in Japanese. All you need is the pictures and the number system is the same as here. If you have the part number, you can get any part no matter where the machine was made. Before purchasing any Komatsu you need to be able to get into the computer and see if there are any fault codes. It is best to avoid buying some else's problems. Good Luck!

as far as im aware komatsu manufacture pc210 excavators for the euorpean market in newcastle england, they have a big operation there, i was given the grand tour a couple of years ago when i purchased a couple of new machines from the komatsu dealer in ireland, they brought us to england about 50 or so contractors who gave them custom , for a tour of the factory, they even put us up and fed us and beerd us all up too!!!!!!!!! but there are probbably 4 or 5 factories around the world manufacturing 210 komatsu machines, if you go to the dealers in europe for a 20 ton hitachi ,komatsu ,or kobelco ,your buying a 210, 200s are classed as a jap import here!

Komatsu recently announced PC210LC-10, which will be replacing PC200LC-8. Chatanooga plant is in process of changing assembly line. PC210LC will be TierIV interim compliant.
