. It's kind of hard to make a real conclusion, unless you ask the operator what ( She or He ) is trying to do. .
Or told to do... regardless there is a better way to go about.
I Agree Sometimes you gotta do as you are told...Even if it's wrong ointhead
One of the things you should always try and do is to use a hammer in the upright position. Using it like that can jam the chisel in the hammer body, that is probably why the hammer was going so slow. Sometimes you have no choice but use a hammer on it's side but it is not recommended and should only be done by someone with some hammer experience. It is OK to drag material away with the chisel but be careful and don't use too much force. It also takes a bit of experience to know how to approach any particular job because you are limited in what a hammer can do and sometimes people will try and take too much of a chunk out of the material and end up wasting time because all they are achieving is putting a hole in the material, instead of breaking pieces off the material. This is mostly trial and error until you work out where to position the chisel, in order to get the maximum breakage off the material versus time it takes to get that break. It looks like perhaps that video showed someone trying to break concrete but the concrete had nowhere to break off. Think off it like having a square yard of concrete to break, the temptation is to try and start in the middle and split it, then split it again and again until you have the desired size pieces. This may work with a big machine but with a smaller hammer you have to bite smaller chunks off the edges until you have one layer removed from the block and then do another layer.
