Late 70s case 450 dozer

Hi I'm new to the group and to dozers,i recently got a 70s case 450, after using it for a few months seeming to work great, it has recently started to stop driving after 20-30 minutes, which I've found if i shut it off and let it sit for 10-30 minutes it drives again, i have the full service manual for it but thought I'd post here to get any thoughts on what it might be or where to start looking, hydraulic filters? Hydraulic pressure? Any input would be great i love this thing and want to be able to use it more without worrying if this will be my last time thanks in advance for any advice Dave

Welcome to HEF Dave! lots of great help on this forum. I'm not very familiar with Case but for the quickest results here a serial # with your questions get rapid results from very knowledgeable people with years of experience....without that it can be hard to get the answers you need.

Welcome to HEF @David Haley First thing to do is check transmission oil level. Changing filters will rarely ever repair a drive issue.... Does the oil look foamy after the machine has run a while? Is there any metal fleck in the oil when looked at in the sun? Does the transmission pressure gauge work on the dash? - if so, what are the readings when cold & then warm at idle & full RPM? Does the transmission take the same amount of time to engage as you shift between each range? When the machine is stalled in drive against a large pile of dirt or tree & tracks are not turning - does the driveshaft turn?

Hi thank you so much, I'm going to check all that tomorrow, honestly I've never looked at oil levels other than motor oil, and have filled hydraulic oil a few times but will read your message tomorrow when with it thoroughly and let you all know, appreciate this response from you!

Welcome to HEF, David ! Although the transmission filters aren't the problem you prolly should change them sometime.
