Lift axle issues

captjones! · 2022-07-18 19:05

Hello, I have a 2008 KW T800 quad axle dump truck. We recently replaced one of the air valves on the rear lift, now when you start off with the axles down they will come up by their self at approx 15-20 mph. The switches in the dash remain lit and when you come to a stop the lower back down on their own. Anyone have any ideas?

Lots of new HEF members, lately. Hello. Do the axles lift when you drive in reverse?

No, and they haven’t since I’ve owned the truck, however they do lift when you pull the park brake.

Hmmmm. Something is plumbed backwards. The axles think you are in reverse when going forward.

I’m not sure, we replaced the valve and plumbed it the same way it came off. It has one supply and two discharges

Need a schematic. Ask your friendly dealer. My password to Kenworth ECAT isn’t working. Good chance it wasn’t plumbed correctly when you purchased it.

Hopefully, someone else sees this and has a schematic for you. Or, start from scratch and re-plumb it, so you know everything is correct.

What brand of control is it? Hendrickson, Haldex, Parker, Tramec-Sloan. ? Last six of the vin?

The reverse mode is wired to backup light switch on transmission. Depending on the type of valve used and it being a 2008 it could be several, the most common anymore is the GT5040 Full Function valve. Very hard to plumb backwards. One valve does the job. https://www.dsuban.com/files/5040_Lift_Axle_Control_Module-1.pdf
