Hi all, got us into a real bind here, have a 94 hawkins areosport mh, cat 3176b 9ck07783. headed to NJ from NC, on I81 criuising along and little red light next to key { which is always on when key is on} went out and engine felt like shut off coasted 20 seconds light came on engine back to power no sputter, went 2 hrs ran great, stop for night, next morn. no lght no start, diesel mech. spent 8 hrs, has power to ECM ,ground fuel press. no current to injectors. starts and dies with ether, so probably not speed sensor as i see others it stays running with bad speed s. stuck in Edinburg Va since teusday 12th. Have some knowledge working on veh. have test light multimeter some tools, ive been checking thru wires, all battt connections clean and tight, dang this s#####ks any advice would be appreciated The techs datalink wouldnt communicate with ecm, took ecm to Cat dealer he checked sayed was good, but have serious doubts on that, dont know if fully scanned
Have the ECM fuses been checked? They are normally somewhere in the battery box area. Something around 5 amps is the normal fuse rating. It sounds like you didn't end up with a proper troubleshooting.
We were not able to find ecm fuses, I believe the main ecm feed comes straight from batt, theres 2 batt banks house and chassis, I found the feed to the allison trans on the house batts. I would like to find ecm feed but getting to ecm is tough as the starter needs to come out, Im surly no diesel tech, used to be a auto mech, that was in a different lifetime. I need a guy that knows these cat 3176 motors, theres one near here cat guru, spoke to him but hes backed up with work,
Here's the electrical schematic for the engine in case it's of any help. However what you are probably in need of is the schematic for the chassis and I can't help you there.
The link comes up search pages, no schematic. and chassis schematic would be awseome ive searched but no such beast, would have to find hawkins owner with one. Hawkins went bankrupt in 96

Found the problem an 11$ relay, near engine door, 4 relays 1 was bad
