Looking at restoring a 48 Speeder with a shovel, the gas Buda is toast , so the first issues is loading and off loading, then what could be used for a replacement engine ? it has a C-2 bell housing / twin disk takeoff, a Detroit 471 is a c-4 which I think would be overpowered, my Unit has a 371 setup what is the 371 bell housing setup ? any thoughts ?? any reasonable engines out there ?
Hi Ironworker How toasted is the Buda? Ihave an Insley K12 with a 326 Buda in it ,Theres not much you cant clean up and fix on them, ive got ignition parts for mine from Lordco .The old engine runs pretty good
Its a shame but it has a big hole in the side ,, maybe the head is salvageable, it has a ASE 2 bell housing , they do put out a lot of torque, any thoughts on a 3 71 DD fitting in there ? I do see a lot of Mil surplus D198 Hercules / White 4 cyl. Diesel engines out there ASE 2 bell housing, they are off generators , will that be a throttle /governor problem ? any thoughts out there ????
OK guys got a 6 cylinder 60 HP Hercules diesel with a #2 bell housing , running now , hope to get to the machine and see what its going to take to transplant it .
At rest
Oh yeah, more pics are expected. :drinkup
Poor BUDA yes there is a hole on the other side too, guess it makes for easy rod oiling.
this is the back of the White/Hercules D298ER I thought the Twin Disk PTO had the mounts on it ,, WaWaWa NOT... are there different bell housing for that engine ? Need some help here PLEASE
I am taking the whole engine drive assembly out as a unit , as you can see the rear engine mounts are on the engine bell housing. there are no mount areas on the engine either .
Well at least the engine has met the speeder, my shop is 230 miles from this project which is west of Albany NY
NOW after planning a few days vacation , getting packed up with tools , driving there ,, working one day ,, then ,,,,,,, WaWaWa...... really !!!
