Long reach and Fun factor

This is my toy. The war dept. won't let me dig much, but I'm thinking if I add a long stick to it, that she'd let me harvest potato's with it ? My question is; how much will it increase the fun factor, if add four feet to the stick ? Long Reach Boom Arm/Stick for Excavator, Victory Attachment Long Reach Boom Arm/Stick that extremely extend excavator working range in forward reach and digging depth, Ideal for Long Distance Dredging or Digging Application, For Example Slope Forming, Settling Banks, Cleaning Ponds/Waterway, and Foundation & Harbor Construction. www.longreachboom.com Adding four feet would give me a total of 10' depth. Would I need a smaller bucket to reduce the chance of upset ? Thanks for looking..

Depends on how big a bucket you put on it.

Perfect for helicopter mob.! Our first excavator was a Kubota 007, nice for remote access/locations. Previous owner had it long-lined into the mountains for Parks Canada trail building. He welded serated plate on stick and boom; this allowed gripping of trees. It didn’t have an expanding undercarriage so was very easy to tip. Longstick…. would have to be careful for sure, (tuck load in tight when swinging) would there be enough breakout force? Would have to use bucket curl mainly? Pilot controls on yours, nice!

Good idea !! Maybe a poor man's light-weight Thumb ? The stock bucket is 12" A custom 6" bucket would give more breakout force.

I hope this is a joke, but if not. Run the machine, dig a bucket full of heavy soil, preferably wet. With the boom over the front of the tracks, lift the boom a foot or two in the air with the machine running full throttle. Quickly drop the bucket 1 foot and see how much the machine bounces. Now think of how it will be if you are digging off the side. 4 feet would be doubling the current length, not only would it likely be unsafe you are also adding a tremendous amount of stress on the rest of the machine. I would also say that even with a 6" bucket you will have virtually no breakout force. On a full size machine, adding a hydraulic coupler significantly reduces the breakout force and they add less than a foot to the total length.

Sounds like a good way to tip that machine over. You wouldn’t want to do that, you might get pinned underneath it. That would embarrassing..

The smaller the bucket, the more likely the material will pack into it. The narrower it gets the shallower it has to be to prevent that and at some point your competition is hand shovels.

Thanks HEF for saving me the cost of an accident or a worthless project. I glad I asked.
